Grouse-Style Simulated Game Shooting

The Acorn Double Duplex system is designed to recreate the movement, density and unpredictability required for realistic grouse-style simulated game shooting. By synchronising multiple Duplex bases so they move together, clay targets can be presented in a tight, coordinated pack that shifts left and right as one — keeping shooters reading the target rather than predicting it.

Coordinated Multi-Trap Target Movement

Each Duplex base carries two AutoClay traps, one left-handed and one right-handed. This opposing setup allows targets within the pack to subtly change direction while still holding a close formation, creating a more realistic and challenging shooting picture that closely reflects true grouse flight.

Because all Duplex bases are synchronised, the entire pack moves in unison, maintaining shape and pace while constantly changing direction. This produces a dense, fast-moving target group that rewards timing, observation and good gun movement.

High Driven and Elevated Simulated Game Targets

The system can also be lifted easily using a telehandler, allowing the entire Double Duplex setup to be raised to height and used for high driven or elevated simulated game presentations where required.

Grouse-Style Simulated Game Shooting

The Acorn Double Duplex system is designed to recreate the movement, density and unpredictability required for realistic grouse-style simulated game shooting. Clay targets are presented in a tight, coordinated pack that moves left and right as one, keeping shooters reading the target and reacting to the movement rather than predicting it.

Synchronised Duplex Base System

This is achieved by synchronising multiple Acorn Duplex Bases so they operate together in unison. Each Duplex Base carries two AutoClay traps, one left-handed and one right-handed, allowing subtle changes of direction within the pack while maintaining a close, compact formation. The result is a more realistic and demanding shooting experience that closely reflects true grouse flight.

Radio Control and Target Release

All traps are paired and controlled using the Acorn Radio Tx8 release or Acorn Flush radio systems. Targets can be released individually, in smaller groups, or as a full pack at the touch of a button, allowing the presentation to be adapted easily throughout the shooting day.

The system is also FieldTech radio compatible.

Adjustable Target Presentation

The system offers a high level of adjustment. The rotational cam can be altered to increase or decrease the angle of the target group, while individual trap height adjustment allows the shape and character of the pack to be refined to suit the ground and backdrop.

Elevated and Trailer Mounted Simulated Game Setups

For transportation and elevated use, three or more Duplex Bases can be mounted on a commercial flatbed trailer using Acorn’s bespoke framework. A forklift access point allows the system to be lifted to height when required, making it suitable for elevated or high driven simulated game presentations.

Flexible Clay Shooting System

A key strength of the Double Duplex system is its flexibility. Each Duplex Base is detachable and can be used independently for other clay shooting disciplines or layouts in different locations. This allows the system to be fully utilised beyond grouse-style shooting, making it a highly versatile solution within a wider clay shooting setup.

Transport Protection and Storage

Bespoke covers can be supplied to protect the system during transport and storage, preventing the ingress of road debris and helping to keep the equipment in good condition over time.

Quality and Safety Built In

Safety Features and Machine Protection

Safety is a priority across all Acorn clay pigeon traps. Each machine is supplied with safety guards and a remote on/off disarm switch as standard. All Acorn traps comply with CE, UKCA, RoHS and WEEE requirements for safe use and environmental protection.

What is the Double Duplex system designed for?

It is designed to create tightly packed simulated game targets, often used for grouse-style shooting, where targets move together as a coordinated group rather than as individual birds.

How does the system create a tight pack of targets?

Multiple Duplex bases are synchronised so they move together in unison. This keeps the targets close together while the whole pack shifts direction, making it more realistic and harder to predict.

How many traps are used in the system?

Each Duplex base carries two AutoClay traps, one left-handed and one right-handed. Multiple bases can be used together to increase the size and density of the target pack.

Can the system be expanded?

Yes. Additional Duplex bases can be added to increase the number of targets in the pack and create larger, more demanding simulated game presentations.

How are the traps controlled?

The system is operated using Acorn Radio Tx8 or Flush control systems, allowing targets to be released individually, in smaller groups or as a full pack.

Can the targets be adjusted?

Yes. The system allows adjustment of clay angle, height and group spread, so the shape and behaviour of the target pack can be refined to suit the ground and shooting style.

Can it create different types of targets?

Yes. In addition to tight parallel packs, the system can produce curling targets and varied movement within the group, adding realism and challenge.

Can the system be elevated for higher targets?

Yes. The system can be lifted using a telehandler, allowing it to be positioned at height for high driven or elevated simulated game presentations.

Are the Duplex bases fixed or movable?

Each Duplex base is detachable and can be used independently for other clay shooting disciplines or layouts, making the system flexible beyond simulated game use.

What type of ground is it suitable for?

The system can be used on a range of terrains and is particularly effective where a controlled, consistent target pack is required.
